JEE Main 2020 Topper Interview – Parth Dwivedi (100 Percentile): Parth Dwivedi is one of those 9 students who secured 100 percentile in JEE Main 2020 Paper 1. Initially shocked upon knowing his JEE Main result, Parth has secured 100 marks in Mathematics, 96 marks in Physics, and 96 marks in Chemistry. Consistently working hard to achieve success, Parth started off his IIT dream from 11th standard by commencing his preparation. For him, his father has always been an inspiration.
Question: Congratulations on your performance in JEE Main 2020! What was your reaction upon knowing your score?
Parth: Thank You!! I got to know the result at around 10:30 PM when my sir called me. I didn’t even know that the JEE Main 2020 result was out, I was in a state of shock. I was confirming with everyone if the result were actually out. I myself tried to check the result but the site was crashing.
Question: Tell us something about yourself. Which board have you studied under? Which school have you studied in?
Parth: Up to class 10th, I did my schooling from Hartmann College, Bareilly, ICSE Board. After 10th, I was in Disha Delphi Public School, Kota with CBSE Board.
Question: What is your percentile score in JEE Main 2020? What’s your score in Physics, Maths and Chemistry?
Parth: I scored 96 marks in Physics, 96 marks in Chemistry, and 100 marks in Mathematics.
Question: Why do you want to study engineering? When did you decide to study engineering? Which branch would you be interested in? Any reason?
Parth: Well, my father is an IITian. He has always been my inspiration and I want to follow his path. I haven’t decided on my branch yet but I think I’ll opt for Computer Science.
Question: When did you start your JEE Main preparation? Tell us something about your preparation strategy and daily routine for JEE Main?
Parth: I started aiming for admission in IIT when I was in class 11th. Since then, I worked towards three things:
Question: Did you face any difficulties since the examination was conducted completely in computer-based mode?
Parth: Personally, I found computer-based mode to be much easier and much better than offline paper mode. We save a lot of time by not filling the OMR sheet. I believe that this is a nice initiative.
Question: Was there a difference in the preparation strategy in the last months of JEE Main considering that the board exams are also coming up? How did you manage preparation for both?
Parth: I followed the same routine. But a week before the exam, I concentrated on calming my mind. I became extremely relaxed.
Question: Did you take coaching for JEE Main and if yes from where? What are the benefits of coaching according to you?
Parth: Yes, I attended coaching classes at Allen Institute. I think teachers in the coaching centres know the exam in a much better way. They were able to help me a lot.
Question: JEE Main sample papers and mock tests – how extensively did you practise with the help of these? Do you think practising from the previous year papers help and how?
Parth: Yes, I solved many mock tests before the exam. It helped me a lot and also taught me time management.
Question: Are there any special books that you feel have helped with your JEE Main preparation? Are the school textbooks adequate for preparing for JEE Main and Class XII?
Parth: Yes, I solved Physics questions from HC Verma and I.E. Irodov. For Mathematics and Chemistry, I preferred NCERT. I believe that if someone has done NCERT, he or she can secure a good rank.
Question: Did you face any problems during the JEE Main examination?
Parth: Yes, I faced small hindrances while giving the examination such as the computers were a bit slow and a scroll of the mouse was not working.
Question: Which subject was the easiest and which was the toughest in JEE Main? What do you think is a tough thing to manage during the JEE Main exam?
Parth: I found Maths was the easiest section and Physics was on a tougher side. Chemistry was moderate. There were some questions in Chemistry that I wasn’t able to solve at the first try. Overall, everything went smoothly.
Question: What do you think are the key factors behind your stupendous success in JEE Main?
Parth: The journey of preparing for JEE main was like a marathon. You have to keep on working hard. You can not prepare it in a couple of days. Consistent hard work and not neglecting any subject is extremely important. This is because neglecting any subject will lead to lack of confidence.
Question: Will you be appearing for the April session of JEE Main 2020 too?
Parth: No, I will not be appearing for JEE Main 2020 April session.
Question: How did you de-stress yourself during the preparation? What are your hobbies? How often could you pursue them?
Parth: To de-stress myself, I used to take small breaks. During the breaks, I used to play Guitar and play Table Tennis.
Question: Who is your ideal or biggest inspiration in life and why?
Parth: My parent(s) are my biggest inspiration. I want to be like them.
Question: You know you are an inspiration to thousands of students across the country. Do you have any message for future aspirants on tackling the JEE Main exam?
Parth: I would like to say that I will keep working hard. It doesn’t matter if you have succeeded or not. Failures will come. How you deal with the failures is what matters. Most of the problems are not external but it’s our mind that makes the problems much bigger than they are.
